Technique House

The Dutch Quarter, Colchester, Essex: 1999

A former flat-roofed 1950’s printing works, shoe-horned into one of the oldest parts of Colchester and completely surrounded by Listed Buildings, this ugly structure was nothing if not a challenge. A new addition at the front of the building was constructed to look like the surrounding jetted historic houses, whilst the main factory was restored with new Crittall Windows, a contemporary porch and decked gardens. In total seven loft-style apartments were created.
